Time for Detroit Tigers to move on without Brandon Inge – MLB Update
According to a leading sports website, Detroit Tigers have cut their ties with Brandon Inge for good. With Inge’s departure, his love/hate relationship with Detroit’s fans will also come to an end. Since joining the Tigers in 2001, the former Tigers’ second
baseman has remained a part of many controversies.
In an interview, Inge stated that his heart will be in Detroit forever. When he was called in manager’s office, he knew that the time had come. Earlier this year, when General Manager Dave Dombrowski decided to change his position to second base, Inge expressed
great displeasure. He was one of those players who took pride in his performances and he loved to win games for his team.
In his decade long career with the Tigers, the striker produced many great performances. Along with Miguel Cabrera, Inge gave some great results past season to help the Tigers win the American League Central division title but it is all over now as Inge
is officially released from his duties.
"Brandon Inge has done a tremendous job for this team for a long time," Dombrowski said. "For some people, I realize he's been a very controversial player. The letters I got about him were more conflicted than about any player I've ever been associated with.
"But I personally want to thank him for everything he's done for us. He's been a true soldier throughout the years. He's been a Tiger. He will always be a Tiger, not only for what he's done on the field, but for how he's represented us off the field."
The source further added told that Inge’s poor form since the start of 2012 Major League Baseball has cost him his job. In his 20 at bats, the striker managed just .100 average with no home runs. He also made some costly errors at second base in Tigers’
0-3 series loss to Seattle Mariners. Over the years, the Tigers relied on him in the field both offensively and defensively but it seems the time has come for the Tigers to move on and find a suitable replacement for him.
