Time for Shanshan Feng to toughen up
Chinese Shanshan Feng burst onto the women’s golf stage with a magical victory at the LPGA Championship 2012, but the coming events in the current season require her to toughen up a bit more
as the competition is getting stiffer by the day.
With the Sime Darby LPGA Malaysia 2012 slated to be staged from October 11-14, at Kuala Lumpur, the spotlight is about to be thrown on Feng as the Chinese star has struck fear into rivals
by making a solid comeback on the Tour.
Feng proved that her triumph at the major champion was no fluke as she carved out the success on the back of resilience and plenty of patience.
Observers have said that the Chinese golfer is a fast-learning player and she likes to fix flaws whenever she feels her game needs improvement.
Since the Sime Darby LPGA Malaysia 2012 is going to be a raucous event due largely to a fearsome roster, eyes will be fixated on the major champ, expecting her to repeat the LPGA Championship
performance this time.
Feng has worked hard on every aspect of her game and she claims to have fixed most of flaws in her putting. Moreover, her ball striking appears to be at its best these days, which will prove
beneficial when she comes face-to-face against LPGA giants at Kuala Lumpur.
Observers said that winning the upcoming event will not be easy as other contenders are also too eager to prove their mettle, but a strong finish cannot be ruled out as Feng has also said
that recording her second LPGA is one of the biggest goals for the 2012 season.
The LPGA phemom is aware of the growing influence of Asian players and she has often said that she likes playing among her fellow Chinese stars.
“You know what, I'm so happy to see, you know, there were a lot of Chinese following these days and I feel so happy. But everybody says to me, win again, go win that again,” she said during
the Manulife Financial LPGA Classic 2012 that saw her finish tied for the seventh position.
“I was like, don't give me pressure. I mean, just joking, but if they want me to win, I'll try to win, but I mean just like I said, I want to make sure that I'm not focusing just on score,
just need to focus on shot by shot and try my best”.
