The stuff that the trainers rub on the fighters face. My buddy says it is to help the blows glance off a fighters face. I say it is to keep sweat out of the eyes or to protect skin from cuts..are either of us close?

  1. Yeah, the vaseline is to help a punch slide off of the face.  Your buddy is right.

  2. your buddy is right but your answer idk  about that

  3. Yes it is so the blows to graze off for one and when it is put in and on a cut it is to stop the bleeding.

  4. Remember the only "Dumb Question" is the one that is never asked. How would you know otherwise? Anyways, It is to make the leather from the gloves slide off the face, Otherwise it would tear skin most every-punch. Leather grips skin really bad, and will even tear it if enough force is applied, Like a punch. That being said, they use the Vaseline to make the punches not grip the skin, and slide off more easily. It wont stop you from getting knocked-out cold, or even cut if you are hit just right. But without it, The place would be full of blood. I boxed for years with The U.S. Army when I was in, So I am not just talking to hear my head roar. Hope this answered your question friend. Take Care.
