Time for a new router?

Okay so I have the Linksys BEFSX41 Wired Router had it for about eh i don't know a year and a few months?, and every now and then It will just go out and restart itself, well not really restart but my internet will go out and the only thing to bring it back would be resetting the router.. So my question(s) is Do you think it's time I buy a new router? or Does it have some kinda virus that I can take out? Cause it's really getting to the point of insanity cause I'll be in the middle of something and *boom* it goes out.. So if you could help me out that would be awesome..

btw: I did upgrade the firmware and the router firewall is on and I do have an Anti-Virus (AVAST!) and My windows firewall is on..

:)

*cheers

  1. Linksys routers used to be good, but they switched from using a Linux based operating system to VxWorks and IMO they have really took a dive since then (WRT54G version 6 and onward).

Upgradijng the firware is def. a good idea, but I wouldn't expect the router to die at only 1 year in.  Maybe restore the router to factory defaults and try reflashing it.
