So, I'm at the drving range yesterday, and the shaft on my 6-iron snaps in half . . . I have DCI 962 irons, that are a good 10 years old, and generally in good shape (there was about 3-4 years where i didn't play much in there). I'm playing a lot again, and while I can easily re-shaft that club, does anyone think there's much a benefit from trading in to new irons ?

  1. treat yourself to some new clubs. talk to your local professional and get fitted for a set you like.

    have fun

  2. talk to your PGA pro , at a golf course for help are remember their  their  to sell clubs also .the technology out there and different styles of heads can change the game .and all depends on your handicap in your style of swing .there's been a lot of little changes .you gotta be careful or professional club maker can make you the set of clubs .if you really like your old clubs with new  shafts that fit your swings  speed  and then fitted to you .

  3. Yes I think there would be a benefit because after a long period of time with using the same clubs your irons will start to take a some yards off of your distance

  4. Ten years is not a lifetime for a set of irons. It looks as though you really want the latest technology and the broken 6 iron shaft is a logical reason. Go for it! Remember that the mechanic who uses the tools is responsible for the results.

  5. Absolutely, as long as you can afford to. You can find any number of models that offer not only the sharp appearance of your older Titleists, but a lot more forgiveness at the same time. If you wanted to stay with Titleist, you might try the 735s. They have a very good reputation, plus they aren't as spendy as the brand new ones. Good luck.
