Question:

Time management with dance?

I'm a high school senior this year. Taking a couple of AP courses. Then I also have a part time job and might be getting another one soon. Then I have 4 ballet classes on top of that. Plus I'm teaching another one and then assisting with another one. That's 6 classes per week! How in the world am I suppose to balance dance, school, and a job?

Any time-management tips?

  1. Stay organized. Write assignments down, and complete them in between class and work. It will be easy to just say "I'll just watch T.V. before ballet, homework later"... but you can't allow yourself to procrastinate. Also, stay calm. people work less efficiently when they are panicky or stressed. Good luck!

  2. i hace the same problem but i am a freshman in highschool. im taking all honors classes and so im basically screwed over i take 3 ballets and 2 pointe classes plus a lyrical class and i assistance teach thats 7! what i do is if the teacher put up assignments I do them right away. even if its the homework for next week that way i dont have to worry about it. i dont stress out and i just take my time ad do things the right way so i dont have to redo them. just set goals for your set get a time planner and write out all your assignments. Hope you manage your time well i know i will try too =]

  3. Woah! Sounds like you have ALOT on your plate. My advice would be to get one of those super ginormous daily planners, and schedule your time really really well!

It's also important to sometimes take time out just for you. You can't be on the go all the time or you'll burn out. Make sure you do relax.

I really actually do think this is way too much, especially for a senior. 2 part time jobs, and assistant teaching job, dancing and school? If you do end up taking another job, you do know that in effect this will be like having 3 jobs?? Plus dancing? Plus all that homework? That is a lot. You should be doing no more than 12 hours of part time work a week, in my opinion.

    Hope it all works out!

  4. Know what you really want and then commit to it, perhaps the question is what should I let go, rather then how can I manage my time, look you can stay in all of these commitments if you want to, just know that your not going to do as well as you would if you didn't have all of these other things bogging your down, not to mention this is you senior YEAR.
