Time to change Arsene Wenger's philosophy at Arsenal – English Premier League debate
Arsenal fan club was full of joy earlier this year. They saw that ending the silverware draught can finally be a reality. But as we all witnessed, the Gunners fell way short as the English Premier League came to its final days of the season.
They were hunting. They were breathing down hard on Manchester United’s backs. Every time United slipped to a draw and gave Arsenal a chance to sneak through, Arsene Wenger’s team would succumb to a spineless defeat or a tamed draw.
Arsenal have been without any trophy for six years now. They battle hard on four different fronts each season. This has been a very long winless campaign for a top team. It hurts the fans even more.
Arsenal crashed to a defeat in the final of the League Cup. They were eventually knocked out of the Champions League and will have to play the qualifiers to have any chance in the elite competition this season. Within a week, they were knocked out of the
FA Cup as well.
From being title contenders, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429 fell astray in the EPL. At one time they were only four points behind with a handful of games still left. But when Manchester United lifted the cup, Arsenal had fallen behind twelve points and to a fourth position on
the points table.
Arsene Wenger feels he comprehends the reasons why the fans are dejected and frustrated. He cites that the defeat in the Carling Cup was a morale draining experience. He does not discount the series of injuries to the key players either.
“We have played 58 games. Fabregas has played 22 games, Van Persie 18 or 19 games and Vermaelen has played four or five games. In decisive moments, we have never had the whole team together. We have to rectify some things in our squad and we will try to
do it. But it is not easy, even with money,” Wenger said.
He also hit out at the fans. "The criticism has been sharper this year because of the impatience of people," Wenger said. To him it was “disappointed love”. But, he said he understood the sentiments. More importantly, he shared them too.

"But that doesn't mean we have to change our philosophy or the way the club is run.”

"We get it 95 percent right, but we must gain that 5 percent because it's so frustrating to flirt with success like we have done.”
Arsenal let down their advantage during a number of key games against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Thomas-Vermaelen-c35002
for almost the entire season meant that their http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Total-c40747 of 41 goals, an area Arsene Wenger must look to improve on.
In bitter reality, to be able to give something back to the fans this season, Wenger has to be more of a healer. He needs to be able to mend the broken egos and shattered spirits. He himself needs to prove back that he still has the hunger for the titles
that he showed when he took office in his early days. He might have to change his philosophy. The 5 percent may be the defining issue at hand after all.
