Time to consider the self sustaining cycle for the top players

The PGA Tour has furthered twenty five more players to the inaugural CIMB Asia Pacific Classic from the 28th of October in Malaysia. The event held in Kuala Lumpur is the first event to have been endorsed by the U.S. Tour and has selected a few to
be permitted to play the event.
These players have been invited after the calculation of FedEx Cup points and will be joined with 15 players from Asia. The 25-15 combo will be entering a field worth U.S. $ 6 million purse.
While some label these tournaments as highly lucrative games, some may say it is a limited field cash grabbing opportunity, plain and simple. They label it as a tremendous procedure for the opportune players as when they sign up,
the other party signs a paycheck.
These sorts of tournaments that hold assured paydays is a type of play spreading like wild fire. This of course excludes those who face the rankings and files since they usually can’t grab the share with their hands. These types of
closed gate events include two FedEx Cup series and four World Golf Championships events. The question is, why most of the tournaments bank on those players that cant hold for even a week.
According to Chris DiMarco, if a person is playing in the World Golf Championships, he can’t rule out the possibility of making almost half a million. The veteran says that you almost have to play piteous.
The cash snatching process initiates with the annual PGA Tour season-opener. The event in Hawaii was restricted only to those who won at least one official event in the previous year. After that we can add the WGC events and then
the HSBC Championship. The event in Tucson, Miami and Akron ended with more than 80 players while the one in China in the year 2009 with 77 golfers in the field.
While there are these annoying events with cuts, there are those like The BMW Championship and Tour Championship who are assured paydays. One example is Martin Laird who collected a total of $120,000. The golfer from Scotland finished
at the last position at the Tour Championship and held the biggest paycheck this August.
Di Marco is a forty two year old player who has experience of both types of events. He received invitations to the WGCs as a top 10 player and had been the recipient of some unofficial cash grabs such as Sun City and the Tiger Woods
tournament. Given the collection of greens, he labels it as a self-sustaining cycle for the top dogs.
From his WGC days, he said that when a players enters those tournaments, its all about, don’t ask me anything, don’t tell me anything. But when you're not playing, Di Marco said one plays the devils advocate and asks whether it’s
fair or not.
A golfer who is thus eligible for the competition and then finishes last at an event will be collecting approximately $ 401,500 while players like DiMarco collected almost the same amount of $400,040. He collected this amount from
13 consecutive cuts and being buried at No. 165 on the money list. So basically if a no-cut tournament tally number is added to a golfer’s year then they have nothing to worry about.
Of course in order to get into the lucrative self sufficient circle, one needs to play a high class game. For mere qualification, at least one win from the previous season and then ranking in the top 64 players in the world is the
basic requirement the golfers need to fulfill.
No one can explain it better than Deane Beman, The former commissioner. He believes that once you play well, other stuff follows suit. The better you play, the better things you get, hence the circle we mentioned.
