Time warner cable modem and tv splitter question?

every time i use a splitter to seperate the tv and the cable modem wires, the modem works fine for a day and then it starts rebooting, i have used three splitters and the cable guy has given me others as well, is there any other way i could get them to work?

  1. Try getting a splitter with some amplification.  It sounds like when you're splitting the signal your modem isn't getting enough juice to keep it going.

  2. no an amplifier will not get your modem working, here is why: Internet service has two types of signal in and out, when you using a amplifier will take from out and put on IN so you will not have the out in order to have your modem working, here is what you have to do: You need a dedicate line for your modem. Modems needs a lot more signal then the TV. So if you can do it your self you need to run a Line direct from the first splitter from the house (should be at you cable house box outside) so if you have a 3 way splitter there, go buy a 4 way and add your new line to it or to get better signal you buy a two way an make as the first splitter like get the 2 way and on 1 way you put your cable line and on he other way you put a cable jumper going to all other existing line that you have in the house already. If you can do it yourself just call the cable provider and request them to send a tech to run a dedicate line to your modem. I hope that will help you
