The players exchanged breaks in the fifth and the sixth game but Babos was still leading the set. Rottmann again double faulted on her second serve in the seventh game and the second seeded Hungarian was now only a game away from
securing the set. As she held her serve for the last time, she smashed a marvellous backhand winner to bag the opening set with a 6-2 victory.
Amidst the second set, the world number 155 and second seeded Hungarian was unable to manifest a better first serve share which was 71 percent as compared to Rottmann’s 74 percent but Babos earned a fabulous 77 percent win of her
first service points.
Mustering the set further, she saved a 67 percent of breakpoints that she faced and although, she had an average return, she still capitalised on a hundred percent of breakpoints won to her advantage.
The second set was commenced by Rottmann and the players traded in breaks in the first two games to place themselves on the scoreboard at 1-1. In the following four games the players then matched a blow for a blow and the score
kept tied at two games each and then at three games each by the end of the sixth game.
It was in the seventh game that Rottmann’s crosscourt shot went long and she ended up gifting away a crucial breakpoint to her adversary. On the other hand, Babos not only capitalized on the breakpoint but with a hold of serve
scooped off two consecutive games to further extend her lead.
At this time in the match, Babos was only a game away from her victory but she was unable to pressurize her opponent into double faulting immediately in the next game. Nonetheless, she managed to close the set in the tenth game
to reserve a spot in the quarterfinal of the event.
