Timer on tv will not work after digital converter box connected?

I use the timer on my tv to wake me up each a.m.. I have already connected my digital converter box and guess what...it by-passes the timer. What can I do to correct so I can use my tv as my trusty alarm clock?

Go into your converter's menu and shut off the auto-off feature. By default,  all of the coupon type converters shut off after four hours with no inputs. There will be a setting in it's menu to turn this government mandated "feature" off.

At least, I'm guessing that's what the problem is. You might think of using an alarm clock as a back up; if there is a power interruption most converters will power up in stand by mode.

If that's not the problem, describe what happens in more detail.
