Timing my combi 1.7d 1999 van?

Question

the head gasket on my combi van recently gave up the ghost, we stripped it, but didn't line up tdc, we put it back together but the timing is out , so it won't start! have now removed the rocker cover &timing belt cover, lined up the crankshaft pulley got a bolt in the camshaft sprocket but can't get a bolt in the injection pump sprocket!!! help ! what do we need to do????

the injection pump is not in the right spot, you have to turn it till you can lock it in. but if you tried to start the motor with everything out of time you bent the valves and it will most likely not run very well if at all
