Timo Glock: Ferrari and Mercedes dream drive, will honour contract with Virgin Racing – Formula 1
German driver Timo Glock has said that despite the fact that Ferrari and Mercedes Formula 1 teams are his dream, he will honour the contract with his team Virgin Racing.
Talking about the Virgin team, Timo added that he would not leave the struggling team in the hour of need.
The German seemed motivated about Virgin’s improvement in the 2011 season as he said, “I'm having with my team a long-term contract. I do not count among those who stick their heads in the sand or simply run away just because it got tough.”
Virgin are going through a bit of a performance downfall as the team was supposed to be heading the lower ranks of the constructors’ table which includes Hispania Racing Team, Lotus and Williams.
After the pre-season testing sessions, it became obvious that the lower rank fight will be among Virgin and team Lotus. However, as the season has progressed, Virgin were facing reliability issues and are down to 11th place, behind the Williams
team and just ahead of HRT.
Timo’s start to the 2011 season was not good as he missed the final testing session in Barcelona when he had some medical issues. He started the season with a few hiccups in the opening races and a gearbox failure in the Turkish Grand Prix after which he
was unable to start the race.
Timo assured that he will still not leave the team but said that his dream drive would be a high ranked team.
The German said, “Ferrari, now that would be something. Or of course Mercedes. As a German, it would be a thing for to drive for a team with that name.”
For now, Timo remains with the Virgin team and hopefully in the next few races, he and Jerome D’Ambrosio will be able to steal the march from the Lotus team to set their team as a head of the lower ranked teams.
