Timo Glock believes Michael Schumacher cannot be written off for 2012 – Formula 1 news
Timo Glock has said that critics and other drivers should not write off Michael Schumacher for the 2012 Formula 1 season.
He believes that Schumacher is still very much a force to be reckoned with in F1. The seven-time world champion retired in 2006 and made a comeback in 2010 joining Mercedes GP.
Since his comeback, Schumacher has not been able to show the class the German truly has. It has been a rocky comeback as the German only managed a 9th position in the 2010 season and 8th position in the 2011 season.
Many fans and former drivers are expecting Schumacher to make a strong comeback for the 2012 season. So far, Schumacher has failed to score any podiums in the previous two seasons, but his countryman Glock who is driving for the bottom of the table Marussia
team says it is not wise to underestimate him.
“You can’t underestimate him in any way,” Germany’s Sky Sports News quotes Glock as saying. “He is highly motivated and still someone who you always have to take into consideration.”
“I think the Mercedes will be quick this year as they continue to develop their challenge to the big three at the front,” he told the Sun.
Schumacher himself earlier said that he will decide over his future at the end of the season when his contract ends with Mercedes. Although Mercedes would like to extend his contract, the German wants to make sure if the team is on the right track to win
a title.
It has been speculated Mercedes GP after making a lot of changes to the team and the latest edition of their car, will give a much improved performance in 2012.
The first glance of their car will be on display during the second pre-season test session scheduled to be held in Barcelona.
The season is shaping up to be an exciting one as all the teams have looked to improve on their previous season’s performances.
