Timo Glock believes Pat Symonds will surely help Marussia – Formula 1 news
Marussia driver Timo Glock has said that the arrival of Pat Symonds as team consultant will surely help their team in performing well in the 2013 Formula 1 season.
In 2008, Symonds was the executive director of engineering at Renault when he was banned from F1 for his part in the Singapore Crashgate scandal. However, he has recently been allowed by FIA to work as a team advisor and will perform his services in the
next season.
The Briton has been known as one of the best team advisors in the sport and will definitely bring value the Marussia in the next season.
The Banbury based squad came 11th in the constructors’ championship in this season and failed to score even a single point. Furthermore, they stayed ahead of HRT and behind their main rival, Caterham.
Nonetheless, they are not feeling upset and are positively looking forward to come up stronger in the coming season.
Besides, Glock believes that they need to make some essential advancement in their car to improve its pace for the coming year. He also said that they must make the necessary changes in their development plan during the winter in order to perform well in
the next season.
“We know that we have to improve on-track as well,” Glock told Autosport. “I think there is a lot of stuff where we need to be better. On the engineering side we need to be better everywhere. It doesn't mean we are bad at the moment, but to move on you need
to improve.”
In addition, he said that they are pleased to have Symonds in their team and are hoping to achieve better results in the next year.
“To have Pat at the races will definitely help because he has so much experience, can step back and have a look from outside, and he's won championships. He can just get into it and we can improve it together. I hope he'll be at as many as possible,” he
added.
Let’s see how the German driver performs alongside his new teammate, Max Chilton in the coming year.
