Timo Glock optimistic that he will stay with Virgin Racing Team for 2011
The 28 year old driver Timo Glock had a disappointing 2010 Formula 1 season with Virgin Racing Team but it was not a surprise as the three new teams that were introduced this season clearly did not have the pace and the fans did not expect much from them
either.
However, it was important for Timo to maintain his spot in the sport as a full time driver and it definitely is quite an achievement.
Timo stated that he is a hundred percent sure that Virgin will keep him for 2011 even though the team has not announced its official driver line-up for 2011.
Glock scored a couple of good results with Toyota as he finished in 10th place in the 2008 and 2009 season but was unable to score a single point in 2010. There were rumours that Timo was in contact with some other teams as well including Renault
but after such a disappointing season, it seems that it would not be possible for him to find a better team than Virgin at the moment.
“I'm excited. And yes I am definitely driving for Virgin Racing. There has been a lot of speculation about me wanting to leave the team, but it is not about leaving a team, it is about wanting to do better and keep moving forward”, said Glock.
He believes that his seat at Virgin is secure and he would not have to struggle at all to convince the team that he is the best driver for them. In fact according to the German driver, the team just has to announce its deal with him officially. The rest
has been taken care of already.
“I am already confirmed so there is nothing new to announce about me. But I understand that the team wants to announce the line-up together when the second seat is confirmed”, he added.
However, it seems that the team does not have a very promising future but it would be great to see the team perform better than they did in 2011 and maybe see them on the grid for a couple of years more. Since Virgin has lost its “Virginity”, they seem more
comfortable and confident now as they hope to improve their performance in the future.
“It is not just 99.9% certain that I will stay, as has been reported - it is 100% certain that I am staying! Since the beginning I have had a long-term contract with the team and I said then that I was doing this to help build a team for the future”, said
the 28-year old.
