Timo Glock says VRT not taking a big step for 2012 Formula 1 season – Formula 1 news
Virgin Racing Team’s Timo Glock has recently revealed that the team might not be taking a big leap for their 2012 run as they are not going to use the Kinetic Energy Recovery System or bring about any major change to their upcoming car.
“My impression of him is very good. I don't think that by the first race of next year we will make a big jump. There just isn't enough time. But for the start of the European season we are planning a major update,” driver Timo Glock told Germany's Auto Motor
und Sport.
The team is currently in between the back running teams as Team Lotus are clearly the best back running team on the grid in terms of both pace and statistics while Hispania Racing Team are going through a pretty tough time and they are struggling behind
VRT mostly.
VRT have been challenging Lotus at some of the venues but they have also been struggling behind HRT at some as well. This means that they lack consistency and they must come up with an all-package car in order to improve their car and learn every aspect
of the sport as well.
It is disappointing as they are not going to use KERS in 2012 either but this year, it did not affect their performance much as they are still where they were last year.
As for Lotus, they have improved a lot this year but are yet to secure some points. So are VRT and HRT but since the fans expect a lot from Lotus, they have more burden on their shoulders.
Currently, the three new teams are still at the tail end of the constructors’ standings but they claim that they are going to bring about some improvements for the 2012 Formula 1 season and improve their respective performances in order to catch up with
the mid-running teams of the Formula 1 grid.
