Timo Glock says Virgin Racing Team needs to make changes – Formula 1 news
Virgin driver Timo Glock has said that his team needs to make some changes in their new ‘MVR-02’ car to secure its stronger future.
He also mentioned that, if the team does not manage to get its latest upgrades working properly, then they have to do more struggle in the challenging races of remaining season.
Virgin Racing introduced several new parts in the recent Turkish Grand Prix in hopes of getting closer to the strong front-runners. However, the car did not play a supportive role over the weekend and as a result, both drivers failed to finish their best
run on the grid.
After the race, the team removed the Turkish race upgrades from the machine, following several issues during the whole race weekend. The German said that it is important for the team to get the updates working in race, if they want trouble free qualifying
for the next races.
Glock added that if they still move on the grid like this, as they did in previous races, it will be quite difficult for the team to qualify for the next race. Also, if they do not focus on more updates work, their season will get worse.
The team driver is hopeful that his team will start work on their car, soon.
Timo went on to say, “We went to the full package on my car and it was not slow or anything it was just quite difficult to drive. In terms of driveability from the exhaust system which was difficult to get under control and everyone else in the paddock has
the same problem.”
The team had a very poor start in this season, as both drivers were unable to finish their good run on the race track. After a disappointing race in the Turkish Grand Prix, the team driver feels that they have to find the right direction and a way for updates
to work.
Glock explained that every driver wants to run successfully during his race, but for this, he needs full support from his team and car. Virgin is still unable to produce points, as they have to focus on finding solutions on how to make improvements in their
races.
He went on to mention, "Frustrating is maybe the wrong word. Everyone expected that we would make a step forward and we couldn't do it. In general, it doesn't make any sense for the team to be frustrated. We have to get on top of the problems and we have
to make changes for the future to make it better.”
Glock is expected updates from his team in the next race of the Formula 1 season at the Spanish Grand Prix, taking place on May 22.
