Timothy Bradley – Devon Alexander to be in St. Louis
A January 29 clash between WBO junior welterweight king Timothy Bradley and WBC titleist Devon Alexander has found a home, Fanhouse reports.
The two will meet at the Chafetz Arena in St. Louis, Mo., which is located on the St. Louis University campus.  St. Louis, Alexander’s hometown, makes sense as it is also where Alexander's promoter Don King puts on a lot of his cards.
Alexander (21-0, 13 KOs) is coming off a controversial unanimous decision over former WBA titleist Andriy Kotelnik (31-4, 13 KOs).  The fight likewise took place in St. Louis, at the Scottrade Center, and attracted an eager 10,000 fans.
Bradley (26-0, 11 KOs) last fought in July against Carlos Luis Abregu in a bout that appeared on HBO.
Originally the Bradley – Alexander clash was set to be a unification bout for both fighters, but due to Bradley refusing to pay the necessary sanctioning fees to the World Boxing Council (WBC), he will not be able to inherit Alexander’s title in victory.
The title will be stripped, but its placement will be determined by the sanctioning body.
Bradley reportedly failed to pay due to an ongoing dispute with the WBC following their decision to strip him of his WBC title last year.
While Bradley will therefore only be defending his WBO title, it will be a unification bout for Alexander in the sense that he can win Bradley’s WBO title.
The winner of the fight is expected to take on the winner of a fight between WBA champ Amir Khan and mandatory challenger Marcos Maidana to determine the best pound-for-pound fighter of the division.  Khan and Maidana will touch gloves on December 11 in
a bout that has been picked up by HBO and will take place in Las Vegas.
Khan hopes to use superior footwork, speed, and the guidance of legendary trainer Freddie Roach to topple Maidana and claim his right as best in the division.
