Timothy Bradley asks Erik Morales to be ready when he comes back – Boxing news
Timothy Bradley, who is currently rated as the sixth pound-for-pound boxer in the world by the Ring Magazine, has said the Mexican pugilist, Erik ‘El Terrible’ Morales, to be ready when he comes back, as the Desert Strom is desperate to get his lost title
back.
The 35-year-old Morales, who is a former WBC Silver World Light Welterweight, WBC and WBO Super Bantamweight, WBC Featherweight, WBC Super Featherweight and the IBF Junior Lightweight divisions champion, will take on Pablo Cano for the WBC title on the undercard
of the Floyd Mayweather vs. Victor Ortiz bout on Pay-Per-View.
The fight will take place on Saturday, September 17, 2011 at the MGM Grand Arena in Nevada, Las Vegas.
This is the same title which was previously held by Bradley before he lost it on July 27, 2011 because of his inactivity. Therefore Bradley, who is currently having problems with his co-promoters, wants to fight the winner of the Morales vs. Cano bout when
he returns.
The 28-year-old Bradley, who defeated Devon Alexander on January 29, 2011 in a unification bout to win the WBC title, told the media whoever wins the title between Morales and Cano, is not going to be a deserving winner.
“Erik Morales can be handed the title, but that's a paper champion if you don't fight the man,” said Bradley, who still has the WBO title. “I fight real opponents and they're fighting hand-picked fighters. When I come back, Morales better be ready.”
In the end Bradley commented on the organisations that stripped him off his title. Bradley remarked he had no mandatory title defence but still he was stripped off his title which makes no sense to him.
“When I found out, I was like ‘Dude, you have a year to defend. It was six month, and there was no mandatory (title defense). Why are you stripping me?'” Bradley said. “It makes no sense whatsoever. But this is boxing, man.”
Let’s see whether Bradley manages a fight to get back his title when he returns.
