Timothy Bradley calls Bob Arum a liar – Boxing News
The aftermath of the victory has not been quite good for Timothy Bradley, who now holds the WBO welterweight title after defeating Manny Pacquiao via split decision. Since June 9, when the fight took place, to date, Bradley has been criticised on mainly
every platform that talks about boxing. However, the unbeaten American believes that he had won the match and he deserves to be the WBO welterweight champion.
After the fight, Bob Arum revealed that Bradley had admitted his loss but Bradley now denies it. In his recent interview, Bradley called Bob Arum a liar and said there was no reason as to why he would say he lost when he thought he had won. When asked about
a rematch, Bradley said, “I don't think that's the way it should go. I think the rematch should happen. I think the fight was really close, it could have gone either way. 'm all for it. Nov. 10, let's do it. November or December, if he wants to do the rematch,
why not? All this (controversy) would be taken away. Let's do the rematch and settle it once and for all.”
On the other hand, Bob Arum, promoter for both the fighters, believes Pacquiao had won the fight by ten rounds. In the post fight interview, Arum said that he was ashamed of the decision and that if Pacquiao wants, the rematch will happen.
It should be noted here that the WBO has already presented its review for the fight, claiming that Pacquiao had defeated Bradley by a wide margin. It should be noted here that the WBO can only authorise a rematch for both the fighters and cannot revoke the
results. However, if the WBO has to order a rematch between both the fighters then that is something Pacquiao can do anytime, as his contract with Bradley has a rematch clause.
For now, Bob Arum is waiting on the Nevada State Athletic Commission to present its findings regarding the controversial decision. Once the report shows up, both the parties will decide as to what should be done in order to set things right.
