Timothy Bradley gives advice to Julio Diaz ahead of his fight against Kendall Holt – Boxing News
Cathedral City’s Timothy Bradley has given his friend Julio Diaz some valuable advice for his fight against the dangerous Kendall Holt, which is scheduled today in ‘Friday night Fights’ at the Chumash Casino Resort
in Santa Ynez.
“He should listen to his corner. That's what Julio should do. But Julio is ready, and he knows what to expect. I filled him in,” Bradley said of Diaz.
Bradley also advised Diaz not to get too close to Holt, citing a cat's example. According to Bradley, Holt’s like a cat and you never get close to a cat especially when she is scared.
Bradley, who held the World Boxing Championship title at a time, knows Holt very well. He faced him in a unification fight back in 2009. In that fight, Bradley was knocked down in the very first round and Holt’s devastating
performance was announced as the play of the day on SportsCenter.
Although Bradley dominated the rest of the fight to win the bout with a unanimous decision, that was the only time Bradley; one of the top-10 pound-for-pound fighters, was knocked down in a fight.
Julio Diaz commented on Bradley's fight by saying, “Tim controlled the fight, but Kendall came out of nowhere and dropped him. You don't just drop a guy like that. He has power. I have to be cautious with that and
have respect for his power.”
However, Diaz’s trainer, Joel Diaz still believes his fighter can win the bout today. He said to Julio, “If he comes to you and he sees he can control you, he'll be on top of you. If you show him you're there to fight
and show him no respect, you'll take his heart. He has no heart.”
Joel also told his fighter that Holt is only good in the first three rounds and if he can take control of him in those rounds, things would be in his favour.
