Timothy Bradley, the new WBO welterweight champion, revealed that he is in no mood of having a rematch against Manny Pacquiao this year. Bradley, who stands as an unbeaten American fighter, spoke to his supports in Palm Springs, California. He announced
that he is the new welterweight champion and he defeated Pacquiao straight, regardless of what others have to say.
Timothy Bradley is supposedly under depression over the way fans have reacted to his victory over Pacquiao. Bradley won the WBO title from Pacquiao on June 9 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas via split decision that soon became controversial. According to most
analysts and former fighters, Bradley lost to Pacquiao and he should have given the title back to the Filipino.
However, Bradley maintains that he won, saying, “I am the new welterweight champion of the world. I beat the best fighter pound-for-pound in the game, and that’s Manny Pacquiao. Let me tell you something. They don’t want a rematch. He should rematch me because
that was controversial, but he’s not gonna rematch me, guys. He’s gonna move on. Pacquiao is Pacquiao, he’s big, he’s got a huge name, he can fight anybody out there. I honestly think Marquez is gonna beat him. I was the first in seven years to beat him. It
really don’t matter what anybody says or thinks. We 29-0, baby. Keep hatin’.”
At the post fight interview session, Bradley was not sure as to whether he won the fight or not. However, later on, he spoke to his fans through several interviews claiming himself the rightful owner of the title, while most of them thought he is not.
For now, it is not sure as to when Pacquiao will get his rematch against Bradley. As per the contract both pugilists signed, Pacquiao can anytime redeem the rematch clause. However, Team Pacquiao is currently deciding on their options. According to Pacquiao’s
advisors, the Pac-man can fight Marquez, Cotto or Bradley again. He added that right now the entire team is on vacation and as soon as they will be back, they will notify fans of their plans.
