Timothy Bradley says it was Amir Khan who ducked him first – Boxing news
The Desert Storm, Timothy Bradley, who is the current World Boxing Organisation World Light Welterweight Champion, has revealed it was Amir ‘King Khan’ Khan who ducked him first not him.
The 28-year-old Bradley was stripped off his World Boxing Council light welterweight title because of his inactivity and for refusing to fight a unification bout with Amir Khan, who is the current World Boxing Association Super and International Boxing Federation
Light Welterweight Champion.
Bradley told the media he wanted to fight Khan after he secured a unanimous decision over Lamont Peterson on November 14, 2010 but Khan joined Golden Boy Promotions and they did not want the fight. Bradley claimed his people tried to contact Golden Boy many
a times but they did not respond.
Bradley said, “We kept calling and they didn’t pick up. He ducked me first if people want to say that I ducked him. We tried to call Golden Boy but they didn’t pick up the phone.”
Bradley, who is a winner of 27 of his 28 professional fights (1 no contest), with 11 of his wins coming by the way of a knockout, is scheduled to fight Joel Casamayor on November 12, 2011 at the MGM Grand Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. This fight is going to
happen on the undercard of Manny Pacquiao versus Juan Manuel Marquez. Therefore, Bradley is pretty excited as he knows there will be thousands of people watching him.
Bradley added, “With Márquez, you have two great fighters that have met before and it’s the third meeting – they want to see who’s going to win this fight. And these fans are going to get a chance to see Timothy Bradley and they don’t know who Timothy Bradley
is and have never seen me before but will now get a chance to see me fight.”
Bradley has now signed a contract with Top Rank Promotions and he believes Top Rank will take him to the world title glory. He also showed his intentions to fight Khan because he thinks it will be a huge fight if he fights Khan through Top Rank.
