Timothy Bradley to stay off his feet for 8 weeks – Boxing News
Timothy Bradley, who grabbed a split decision win over Manny Pacquiao past Saturday at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, hurt both his feet during the fight. Bradley, the now WBO welterweight champion, will be off his feet for a few weeks in order to recover from
the injuries.
Bradley went through several X-rays at a hospital in Las Vegas. According to doctors, the unbeaten American fighter needs to go through an MRI in order to determine the extent of the damage. Bradley’s manager Cameron Dunkin revealed that Bradley twisted
his right ankle during the bout which had a swelling on it throughout the fight. However, he added, that the team was more worried about the right foot which had a dip on the top.
He iterated, “The left foot was the one we were really concerned about because it had like a dip on the top of the foot and had really bad swelling. The whole foot was bad. So we didn't know what was wrong. When he went to the hospital in Las Vegas after
the fight, they said it's possible he had a fracture but they didn't see anything on the X-ray. They said, 'There's definitely something wrong. You need an MRI.'”
He adds, “Timmy was told to keep it elevated, put ice on it and heat on it and stay off it. He thinks he [twisted it by stepping] on the referee's foot.”
In the post bout interview, Bradley said that he would review the fight at home to decide whether he won it or not. Now, the WBO welterweight champion reveals that after watching the tape he is certain that he won the bout. He added that Pacquiao is a great
fighter and a great man and he will definitely get the chance to win back his titles. Lastly, Bradley said that he wants a rematch to prove to the world that he won the fight fair and square. He said he wants to make it a more definitive win.
For now, there is no news of a rematch being scheduled between both the fighters, as Bob Arum, promoter for both of them, wants an inquiry into the decision prior to setting up a rematch.
