Timothy Phillips wins Men’s 100m butterfly title: Day four – 2011 World University Games
Timothy Phillips of United States impressed the arena on day four of the 2011 World University Games in Shenzhen, China, on Wednesday, August 17. The session of the meet held the Men’s 100m butterfly and Women’s 800m freestyle relay finals.
At the beginning, Phillips touched the wall in 52.06 seconds to win the gold medal. Timothy Phillips’s team-mate, Thomas Shields picked silver medal on the podium by submitting an impressive time of 52.62 seconds, whereas, Pawel Korzeniowski of Poland grabbed
bronze medal by posting an immaculate time of 52.96 seconds.
In the corresponding meet, Masayuki Kishida of Japan wound up fourth in a time of 52.98 seconds. Henrique Martins of Brazil was placed fifth in 53.27 seconds, while Clement Lefert of France earned sixth spot in 53.28 seconds. Marvin Philip Heintz of Germany
settled seventh in a time of 53.47 seconds, whereas, Marcos Macedo of Brazil was placed eighth in a time of 53.53 seconds.
Meanwhile, the Women’s 800m freestyle relay crown was captured by United States’ team of Karlee Bispo, Chelsea Nauta, Kate Dwelley and Megan Romano with a triumphant time of 7 minutes and 55.02 seconds. That splash beat USA’s previous best time of 7 minutes
and 57.87 seconds, set back in the 2007 edition of the meet.
In the corresponding race, the squad of New Zealand including Natasha Hind, Melissa Ingram, Amaka Gessler and Lauren Boyle took home the silver crown on the podium by posting a matchless time of 7 minutes and 59.60 seconds. Last, but not the least, China’s
team of Tang Yi, Zhu Qianwei, Liu Jing and Lu Ying secured the bronze medal by submitting a matchless time of 7 minutes and 59.62 seconds.
Additionally, David McKeon of Australia snared the Men’s 400m freestyle title by posting a stunning time of 3 minutes and 48.78 seconds. United States’ Michael Klueh picked silver on the podium by submitting an impressive time of 3 minutes and 48.84 seconds,
while Sho Uchida of Japan sealed bronze title in a time of 3 minutes and 51.93 seconds.
