Tin foil on radio anteanae?

if i put a square of tin foil on the antennae of my new radio will it pick up the radio waves stronger so the channel is more clear or will it look like I'm trying to create a futuristic atmosphere(look like I'm an idiot.)

  1. Tin foil on the antennae (spelled correctly) will only prevent unauthorized transmissions from aliens and government eavesdroppers.  I wear a fin foil hat to keep them from invading my brain.


  2. I prefer to use an old piece of wire (speaker wire, telephone twisted pair, whatever).   Five feet or more if possible, the longer the better.  

    Strip an end, wrap it round the end of the antenna, and drape  the rest all over everything until that staticy station you want comes in clear, which it generally will eventually.  

    Yes it looks retarded.

  3. I remember doing that as a kid. There was a station I'd tune into at night & as long as I put tin foil on the antennae it would come in clearer. That was about 20 years ago.
