Tina Charles, Sylvia Fowles, Seimone Augustus: Top WNBA players from 19th June games – Part 1
On Sunday, four games took place in the Women National Basketball Association (WNBA). At the Mohegan Sun Arena, Connecticut Sun beat Chicago Sky 83-68 in the first game of the night. In the second game of the evening, Minnesota Lynx registered their fifth
consecutive victory of the season with a 77-64 decision over Atlanta Dream at Philips Arena.
Here is a detailed insight into some of the most breath-taking performances from these games:
Connecticut Sun vs. Chicago Sky
Tina Charles
Tina Charles showed exactly why the Sun acquired her in the 2010 WNBA Draft as the first overall pick. The 22-year-old continuously attacked at the rim, rebounded, blocked shots, and was the spark that lit the fire for Connecticut.  The young centre player
played one of the best game of her career and more than made up for her disappointing outing, last times when the teams met.
Charles scorched Chicago with a season high 31 points, including 11 in the final period and also led Connecticut’s dominance in the paint with a game-high 12 rebounds for propelling them to their third consecutive victory.
Charles, who was named the Big East Conference Player of the Year in 2010, canned 13-for-21 from the field and 5-for-8 from free throw line.
Standing 6 feet 4, she is averaging 20.4 points and shooting 57.3 percent with three double-doubles this season. In recognition to her outstanding performances in the week, she was named as the Eastern Conference player of the week.
Kara Lawson
Playing for almost 27 minutes while shading the opposition with her excellent performance, Kara Lawson found her groove from downtown and hit three 3-pointers on her way to 13 points. The 30-year-old guard also grabbed seven rebounds and three assists for
the victors.
Sylvia Fowles
Sylvia Fowles played really well and once again led Chicago with 23 points. The player also grabbed 10 rebounds and three steals. The 25-year-old centre hit 8-of-17 shots but more importantly made 7-of-8 from free throw line. Fowles, who is averaging 21.2
points and 8.8 rebounds per game this season, scored 15 of her points in the second half off the game.
Epiphanny Prince
Epiphanny Prince has the ability to single handedly turn the game on its head. The 23-year-old guard struggled intermittently but did find her zone as the game proceeded. She hit 7-of-16 shots in the game for 18 points. Prince kept herself useful by grabbing
four rebounds and four steals for the Sky. The player also pinned four three-pointers and scored 11 of her point in the first half of the game.
