Tine Baun outplays Linda Zechiri in Women’s Singles semi-final at European Championships 2012
Denmark’s ace player Tine Baun put up spectacular show of flawless badminton in Women’s Singles semi-final battle when she outplayed Bulgaria’s Linda Zechiri at the European Championships 2012 in Sweden, on Friday, April 20.
The World Number 7 Baun, who is top seeded shuttler in the tournament, played on a different level as she played with impressive speed and perfection and ended the battle while taking just 31 minutes in the court.
Baun was in complete commanding position in the entire semi-final battle and managed to win it in straight games with a comprehensive margin on the board.
On the other hand, Zechiri tried to play competitive badminton but failed to continue her winning run in the event as she lost the contest to her higher ranked Danish rival in straight games.
Baun started her campaign in opening set in a composed and positive manner as she did not play hasty shots and also remained in wonderful control.
Her smashes landed in right areas and she also manipulated her opponent by playing superb strokes at net.
In the meanwhile, Zechiri could not play well as she executed many negative shots and remained struggling behind on the board.
Until the one-minute break, Baun was the one who remained in commanding position by taking a wonderful lead.
After the interval, Baun geared up her speed and pushed Zechiri in all corners of the court. She did not execute risky shots but kept the tempo of game very fast.
Baun remained positive and clinched the opening game in a sensational fashion by a margin of 21-13.
In the second set, Zechiri tried to play her normal game but failed to impress the crowd as she made many mistakes which helped her rival to take a reasonable advantage until the one-minute break.
After the mid-game interval, Baun continued pushing Zechiri in all corners of the court and easily won the second game with a one-sided score of 21-14.
The Danish shuttler managed to grab the fight in straight games with a 21-13 and 21-14 margin on the board.
In the final showdown, Baun will be up against Germany’s Juliane Schenk who outclassed Yao Jie in the other semi-final contest.
