Tine Baun slays Sannatasah Saniru to ease into Women’s Singles second round at Japan Open 2012
Denmark’s Tine Baun eases into Women’s Singles second round after putting up spectacular show of smart badminton in first round clash when she gave a severe lesson to Malaysia’s Sannatasah Saniru at Yonex Japan Open 2012 on Wednesday, September 19, in Japan.
The lofty Baun, who is World Number seven and top seed in Women’s Singles draw in Japan Open, played remarkable badminton and lived up to the expectations as she did not face any trouble on court and easily trounced Sannatasah in a lopsided way.
Top seeded Baun was confident on court as she showed a tremendous play without showing any sign of pressure and remained successful in showing exit to the lower ranked Malaysian shuttler in straight games with a one-sided margin on the board.
On the other hand, the un-seeded Sannatasah was completely helpless against the perfect play of higher ranked Danish challenger. She could not produce finishing shots all the way and crashed out in first round in just 24 minutes.
Lanky Baun was on a different level of court as she showed an impressive control in her shots and remained successful in taking an early lead on the board without facing any problem.
The in-form Danish player was at her best as she showed no mercy to her Malaysian opponent and got a strong position in opening half by reaching at 11-3.
After the one-minute break, Baun did not let Sannatasah to get a good rhythm as she injected variations in her shots all the way and easily clinched the first game with a dominating 21-11 score on the board.
The following set was not different as Baun again was in commanding position. She took the bird early and pushed her rival in all areas without facing any considerable resistance and set up an 11-5 lead until the break.
After the mid-game interval, Baun remained on track as she was smooth and fast in her foot work on court and she finished up the game with a stunning score of 21-10.
Baun found a superb start in the tournament by winning the opening game in a confident manner with a 21-11 and 21-10 score on the board.
