Tine Baun wins Women’s Singles title to prove her supremacy in European Championships 2012
Denmark’s Tine Baun claimed her supremacy in whole Europe when she claimed Women’s Singles title after beating Germany’s Juliane Schenk at European Championships 2012 in Sweden, on Saturday, April 21.
Baun, who is World Number 7 in Women’s Singles world rankings, had to dig into her reserved to overpower Schenk in a mouth-watering encounter that took three games.
The Danish lady, who was the top seed in the event, played well in the ending points of deciding game and remained successful in winning the contest with a tight margin.
On the other hand, Schenk played superb badminton throughout the contest but remained unlucky in the ending points and lost the 68-minute contest with a narrow score on the board.
The starting points of the opening game were fabulous when both ladies employed their impressive shots and pushed each other in all areas.
They continued playing in the similar fast fashion and no one could take a clear lead until the mid-game interval in opening set.
The score progressed narrowly after the one-minute break and both ladies kept the pace very high.
They reached at the finishing points when Baun played smart game and managed to take the set with a dramatic score of 21-19.
In the second set, Schenk became quicker from the opening rallies and continued playing wonderful badminton.
She did not drop her speed and troubled her higher ranked Danish opponent and also set up a reasonable lead until the break.
After the interval, Baun tried her best to manipulate the loopholes of Schenk but failed to get the mark. She lost the second game with a big margin of 16-21.
In the deciding set, both ladies made the fight interesting for the local crowd by playing flawless badminton. They remained toe-to-toe by playing at the same level in the opening half.
After the break, this thrilling contest continued in the similar fashion and reached into the ending phase when Baun showed her brilliance as she played with precision and took the game with a tight score of 21-19.
Baun won the Women’s Singles title after beating Schenk in the final battle with a sensational margin of 21-19, 16-21 and 21-19.
