Ting Yin, Ching Chieh enter Women’s Doubles semi-finals – Victorian International Update
Women’s Doubles team Ting Yin Chen-Ching Chieh Tai led their country to semi-finals of Victorian International by stamping Anona Pak-Anna Rankin on June 29, 2012.
This quarter-final tussle remained in full swing for 45 minutes and both teams had to dig deep to their reserves before reaching a conclusion of 15-21, 21-15 and 21-15.
The victorious Taipei duo exhibited unbeatable craft on court and locked the honour despite of a first set loss.
On the other hand, Anona Pak-Anna Rankin disappointed their supporters by slipping down in last two games.
This three-set encounter started with their spell-binding performance in the opening set. They dominated all areas of court and cornered the opposing team with an immediate assault.
In the first half, the New Zealand shuttlers served notice of their supremacy by pocketing five vital points in a row after a 3-2 total.
They carried this momentum despite of facing strong opposition and placed a respectable margin of 11-6 before the interval.
After one-minute break, they lost grip for short period of time when their challengers prevailed in four continuous rallies to reach a decent position of 12-14.
However, they reinstated their dominance and grabbed crucial points at steady pace to put up a decisive figure of 21-15.
The Taipei ladies made amends in very next game and stopped the match from being a dead contest.
This time their coordination was superb as they did not show any sign of confusion and outclassed their competitors in all departments of game.
Ting Yin and Ching Chieh set the ball rolling with couple of nonstop rallies and gained an early advantage of five points at 7-2.
They did not reduce their pace and finished first half with a notable lead in 11-6 total. This initial advantage helped them to start second half with great confidence.
They did not show mercy even after the interval and bagged second set with 21-15 score on the board.
The Taipei duo carried this form in decider and entered a staggering figure of 21-15 to be in top four teams of the event.
Now they will face second seed Indonesian team Nurvita Hanadia Keshya-Devi Tika Permatasari in the semi-final round.
