Tino Best ecstatic after record-breaking 95 against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013 – Cricket News Update
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760 number 11 batsman, Tino Best, hopes his record breaking performance with the bat against England on the fourth day of the ongoing Edgbaston Test would mark his 'rebirth' as an international cricketer.
Best, making a comeback to international cricket after a gap of more than two years, played a stunning innings of 95 runs at Edgbaston on Sunday, the highest score ever by a No. 11 batsman in a Test match. The record was previously held with http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Z-Khan-c98379
of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Bangladesh-c747 in Dhaka, back in 2004. Best’s knock was laced with 14 boundaries and a lofty six as well.
"To be able to showcase my talent to the world really felt good," said Best while speaking to the media reporters at the end of day four.
"I'm looking at this as my 'rebirth' to international cricket and I want to make sure that I allow people to remember me for the right reasons," he added further.
Though the seamer failed to notch what could have been a breathtaking century by a Test No. 11 batsman, he ably supported the under fire wicketkeeper batsman http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Holly-Louise-Colvin-c63292 off his back with an unbeaten century knock. The duo shared a stunning
143-run stand for the 10th wicket to put the tourists in a safe position to salvage the 3-0 Test series whitewash.
Nobody hoped of a hundred for Ramdin when http://www.senore.com/Cricket/R-Rampaul-c2233 departed in the 99th over, leaving the Trinidad and Tobago cricketer and gloveman unbeaten at 63. However, Best survived for another 31 overs to help the Trinidadian notch the second hundred
of his Test career.
"When I arrived at the crease, Denesh just told me to just back myself," said Best, whose previous best in Test was just 27.
"He told me not to get bogged down, if the ball is in my arc l**k it away, and we focused on building 10-run partnerships...I am very grateful to be part of such a special moment, and batting to allow Denesh to get his hundred," he added further.
Best, who earned a late ticket to England last month, thanks to Shannon Gabriel’s untimely back injury, said that it was a special moment for him and hoped the team management and players would continue backing him.
