Tino Best returns as an improved bowler – Cricket News Update
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760 pacer, Tino Best, is confident that he will be returning to the national squad as a better, improved bowler, in the upcoming series against Australia.
Best, who last played for the national side in the 2009 Champions Trophy, recently earned a recall to the Windies squad for the upcoming home series against the Aussies.
WICB's selection panel chairman, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Clyde-Godfrey-Butts-c51354, cited Best’s consistent performances over the last two years in the domestic circuit as the reason behind his callback.
The 30-year-old’s performances for Barbados have continued to improve over time. His recent scores include a 3 for 11 against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sussex-c852 in Bridgetown in January 18, 3 for 24 in a First-Class match against Jamaica on February 10 at Kingston, as well as 4/33
and 3/32 against Comb C&C on February 24.
Understandably, the right-arm pacer is ecstatic that his hard work has paid off.
“I always believed that once I did what's required -- stay fit and strong, bowl fast and bowl well -- I would be knocking at the door,” he said, adding that representing the West Indies was his ultimate aim, for which reason he was fully focused and prepared
to work hard to stay on the team.
He went on to explain that he had been working hard on improving his bowling.
“One of the areas I have worked really hard on is my consistency of both line and length,” said Best. “I have been doing a lot of work with http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Vasbert-Conniel-Drakes-c94943 in the Barbados team and he has been an amazing help,” he said, adding that this had led to greater
refinement in his technique and action.
“Also, we have been working on my new-ball skills and trying to get the most out of the ball when it is hard and new ... I have put these things in place and I now have better control and understanding.”
Best will get a chance to showcase his new skills on March 16, as the first match of the ODI series against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746 kicks off at the Arnos Vale Ground in Kingstown, St Vincent.
