    That seems a little odd even for the English.

  3. I always wear a clear visor and shades under it. That way I don't have to swap if the sunset catches me, just raise it and remove the glasses.

  4. That's strange that they are illegal, seems dangerous to use a clear visor with the sun in your eyes...weird.

Several years ago there was a rash of people being pulled over for them, now it is more likely if you are stopped, say for speeding slightly over the limit, and you were wearing a tinted visor, plod would be less inclined to let you off with a talking to. When it comes down to their discretion the less illegal you are the more likely they are to think that the paperwork wouldn't be worth it. If on the other hand you were riding at night wearing one they would throw the book at you.

    Tinted visor, small number plate, slightly leery attitude and they will search for something to do you for.

    EDIT: You can wear a tinted visor as long as it lets through at least 50% of the available daylight.
