Question:

Tiny flies in my kitchen?

They are only in one cupboard (which only has dry biscuits, pasta & cereals in - and no flies inside any food packaging) most are tiny flying ones but some are long thin walking ones that look like their bodies are in 2 halves.

Could they be anything to do with woodworm? The wood cupboard is quite old.

  1. Sounds like a whole lot of baby flies have recently hatched.. Remove everything from the cupboard and clean it with a  solution  of bread (bicarbonate of)soda in water.  Make sure to dry it well too

  2. I think you will find they are weevils. Apparently they are harmless and get brought into the house in a packaged dry food stuff such as flour or pasta.

Personally I would throw the entire contents of the cupboard out, wash it well and let it dry overnight.

Put something else in that cupboard, tinned goods, crockery anything but dry goods and find a new cupboard for your new fresh dry goods.

A pain but it worked for me.

  3. you dont happen to have an old bag of potatoes lurking in your cupboard do you as this happened to me once and that was why.  i threw them out cleaned the cupboard and hey presto no insects.
