Question:

Tiny kitten outdoor cat is scared and wants to come in my apartment?

I don't know if this will continue to be an issue but it was today and I wanted to get a little perspective.

Our neighbors have a TINY little kitten and I guess they want her to be an outdoor cat now because they let her out all day and left for work and then ignored her cries to come back into their apartment.

She walked around outside our apartment all day crying. She was terrified as well. I went out at one point and sat with her. She was shaking and crying and seemed really upset. When I went back to my apartment, she wanted in. I didn't let her in even though I felt really bad for her because she isn't my cat and I don't feel that would be right.

What is the right thing to do in this situation? Just let the poor little thing stay out there terrified? That is what I did because I didn't feel like I had any option, but I did sit with her for a while. She hid under my legs, cried, kneaded on me, etc. The neighbor below us (not her owner) is annoyed at her because she is climbing on their screen door (up to the top almost) because she wants in any apartment really badly.

I wouldn't think much of this but she is SO small. I don't know how old she is, but she can't be more than six weeks old. She is very small. I thought she might be hungry so I brought her out some dry food (just a few pieces of our cat's food) and she couldn't even eat it because she was too small. We have wild animals and a coyote was going around killing people's cats a while ago so I am just worried about the poor little thing.

I am hesitant to talk to her owners. They are incredibly rude and have appeared belligerent at points. Should I just ignore the kitten and this situation? It is their cat, but I just feel so bad for the little thing.

  1. The little girl needs a good home and she would like it to be with you!

I would take her in and not worry about your uncaring neighbors.  It's obvious from the way they are treating her that they are not concerned if she lives or dies.  You can see that she has a good home with you or perhaps you can find a good home for her.

Good Luck and thanks for caring about this little one!

  2. I would adopt the kitten.  This is obviously a form of animal abuse, they left her out to starve.  I would talk to your neighbors and tell them you don't think they are doing the right thing and if they don't change, it would be better if you would adopt the kitten.  Please help this poor creature! She is suffering and she is doing nothing wrong!

  3. Please please take the little kitten in!!!!

  4. I would contact you local rescue groups to see if they can come get the kitten. There is no reason to leave her outside! All animals should be kept inside anyway! It is not safe for them outside.

  5. I wouldn't be sure what to do in this situation either, but if you feel the situation warrants it and if you have one in your area, you could call a humane department.  If nothing else they can give you some expert advice and if they feel the animal needs to be taken and rescued, they will come out for it.  If you call up animal shelters, one of them should know whether there is a humane department in your area.

  6. What a tough situation.  I'm not sure that my advice is the right thing to do, but right or wrong it is what I would do.  I would take her to the vet to be checked out.  Make sure she is healthy & get her shots (you don't want her getting your cats sick).  Then take her into your home.  I know it seems wrong since she "belongs" to someone else, but what these people are doing (or NOT doing...) is a million times worse.  If you don't take her in, I'm afraid her sad little life will be cut short.  Keep her as an indoor cat...especially since you have dangerous wildlife in the area.  Let's just hope that your awful neighbors don't decide to replace her :(  From the sounds of it though...maybe they won't even notice the poor thing is gone.  Good luck & bless you for looking out for the kitty!  Please adopt this little girl!

  7. Aw, thats so sad! You should perhaps have a word with them! Its really, cruel especially being soo little.

  8. I have no problem with cats that are allowed out when they want. I do have a problem when people think they have a pet but don't care about the pet's feelings. As far as I am coincerned, if this kitten 'picks' you then you should certainly take her in. Cats are social creatures especially at that age. It needs to be in your home

    (Please feed canned foods!)

  9. i would take the cat in and if you can't i would call the spca or whatever animal rescue you have in your area and have them pick up the kitten.

  10. no question about it---take the little kitten in or take it to the shelter so it is cared for because this little kitten is not long for this world if you do not. If you take it in yourself, you will never regret the day you found your very best friend and just never mention a word of finding this kitty to the oafs who did this to her.

If the neighbors expect anything other than she is dead it will be a miracle

I bet they wouldn't even miss her if you took her in

without her license number---who would know?
