Tio Ellinas thankful to Marussia F1 team for awarding him test driver seat – Formula 1 news
Marussia Manor Racing GP3 driver, Tio Ellinas has expressed his immense gratitude towards Marussia F1 team for awarding him the test driver seat for 2013 Formula 1 season.
Ellinas has performed tremendously well in the last race of the 2012 GP3 Championship at Monza and claimed a tremendous victory. Moreover, he secured 8th position in the overall standings.
Furthermore, he completely outperformed his teammates, Dmitry Suranovich and Fabiano Machado in the tournament and impressed everyone with his amazing performance.
In regard to his superb performance throughout the season, Marussia have awarded him a seat of test driver for the next season and he will drive their car in the Young Driver Test in the coming year.
The Cypriot said that he is very happy to win the last weekend’s race which is quite a relief for him after a long season. In addition, he said that he is feeling immensely pleased as he has been able to secure a test driver seat in F1 which is like a dream
come true.
“It was fantastic to win my first race last weekend at Monza. It has been tough season, but I have learned a lot and it culminated in success of weekend at an amazing circuit. It doesn't quite seem real that I'm going to get my first F1 test; it is something
I have always dreamed of since I was a child,” he said.
Besides, he said that he has to work really hard so as to come up to the expectations of his team while he said that he is very thankful to Marussia for providing him with such an amazing opportunity.
“I have got a lot of work to do before then though, so I will keep my head down over winter and work hard to prepare for 2013 season. I really want to thank Marussia for this amazing opportunity,” he added.
Over and above, Marussia team principal, John Booth said that they have always supported young drivers to join the sport and they are glad to have Ellinas in their team as their third driver for the next year.
