Newcastle United manager http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Alan-c4244 Pardew has confirmed that Cheick Tiote may miss out the Premier League opener against Tottenham Hotspur this Saturday after he received a knock in the friendly against Cardiff.
The Magpies played against Championship side Cardiff City and could miss out midfield enforcer Cheick Tiote and defender Fabricio Coloccini after both players wobbled off the pitch. Alan Pardew revealed that the pair may not only miss the opening game but
could potentially miss the starting two weeks or so of the new Premier League campaign.
As if losing 4-1 to the Bluebirds wasn’t enough, Newcastle have lost out on two of their most influential and vital players. Pardew was clearly frustrated at the end of the game, and not happy with the result. Newcastle had conceded three goals just after
25 minutes, and went on to lose 4-1.
Far more worrying for the manager will be the absence of both his star players. Tiote had been in fine form in Newcastle’s pre-season tour, and had impressed the manager with his defensive and aggressive displays in the centre of the field. Pardew had praised
his performances and said that the player was probably in the best form of his career.
Captain and defender Fabricio Coloccini will also be sorely missed as he had an amazing campaign and pre-season tour. Coloccini was named one of the top three centre-backs of the Premier League last season, and will be sorely missed in defence as Newcastle
take on Tottenham at the Sports Direct Arena on Saturday.
Speaking to the press, Pardew said:
"Cheick [Tiote] has a calf strain so we will have to monitor him. We are sweating on him for next Saturday.”

"[Fabricio] Coloccini also has a knock but I’m not sure how that is. He is due to travel to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Argentina-c2841 but we will have to assess him, too."
Newcastle have just finished their most impressive and successful season in the Premier League since the Sir Bobby http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Robson-c31388 days. The club was a serious contender for the fourth spot and looked set to secure a place in the Champions League squad. However,
they were unlucky to have lost out on the fourth place and finished at fifth instead, which is still a very impressive feat.
Pardew’s men face a tough start to the new competitive season, as they face Spurs at home, travel to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786.
