Newcastle United midfielder, Cheick Tiote has quashed the speculations that he is contemplating a move away from the Sports Direct Arena in the summer, by expressing his resolve of staying in the club for a long period.
The Ivorian footballer, who was signed by the Magpies in August 2010 for a 3.5 million pounds fee, has reportedly drawn interest from a number of English clubs, with http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 believed to be preparing a transfer-bid for the player in summer.
However, Tiote has rubbished the talks that a lucrative offer from bigger clubs will force him into making a move away from the Tyneside team, and mentioned that he has currently set his focus on the remaining league games this season.
While talking to reporters, he said: “I know I can achieve what I want to here. I don't know about the speculation. I have four games to play, I think I have to focus on the games because they are important games for the club and for everybody.”
The Magpies broke into the top four last week with a 3-0 win against Stoke City, and they now find themselves in a good position to qualify for the Champions League next season. If everything goes according to plan, they will make it into the illustrious
European competition for the first time since the 2003/2004 season.
The 25-year old also heaped praise on his team-mate Papiss Cisse, who has been in red-hot form since his move to the Sports Direct Arena in January. So far, he has scored 11 goals for the Magpies in his 10 appearances.
“For [Cisse], it is natural to score goals. It feels normal. As a striker, it is important to score those goals. If you don't, you start to worry, but he scores every game. It is good for the team, too," he explained.
Tiote also backed his other team-mate, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Demba-Ba-c10812, who has failed to find the back of the net in his last 12 appearances in all competitions. He pointed out that the Senegalese striker is playing remarkably well, and it is only a matter of time before he starts
scoring again for his team.
