Newcastle United midfielder Cheick Tiote has been warned by manager http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Alan-c4244 Pardew to work on his discipline following his sending off against Sunderland in the Wear-Tyne derby.
The Ivory Coast international has been told by the manager to keep his calm and work on his poor disciplinary record or else risk an adverse effect on his football career.
The player has been Newcastle’s most hot-headed squad member, and has become notorious for his discipline record, picking up a yellow card in almost every other game he has played.
Tiote recently recovered from a muscular injury, and came back into the side after the lack of his physical presence cost Newcastle points in the league.
However, his return was overshadowed by the sending off against Sunderland. Tiote was sent off in the first half and left his teammates in a tricky situation. Newcastle had to spent the remainder of the 65 minutes of the game with 10 men on the pitch and
only a slender 1-goal lead.
The red card ultimately cost Newcastle as they ended up conceding an equalizer to the Black Cats in the dying minutes of the game.
Manager Alan Pardew has sympathy for Tiote, and has always been full of praise regarding his combative displays and tackling ability. However, he feels that the 26-year old cannot afford any more suspensions and dismissals, as they affect both his career
and the club’s form.
The tenacious Ivorian has been booked 29 times in 59 appearances since he joined Newcastle from http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/FC-Twente-c39233 in 2010. Speaking to reporters about the player, Pardew said:
“I do have some worries about his discipline. I will be talking to him before the Brugge game. We talk to him before every game. We talk to him at half time and I’ll be talking to him again.”
“It’s not a laughing matter because he’s one of our big players and I can’t have him not playing. It could be costly and he needs to understand that.”
Tiote will feature for Newcastle in the Europa League on Thursday night, but will miss out the Magpies’ next three Premier League games as he serves his suspension.
