Tip Toeing Through The Career Of Rubens Barrichello

Having bagged a total of sixty eight podium finishes as well as a total of six hundred and thirty six points in his entire career till date, Rubens Barrichello stands at eleventh place of the Drivers’ Championship this season.
The Brazilian driver is one of the senior drivers of 2010 Formula One rally and had been able to pull out the best one could from the Cosworth powered, Williams’ car.
The thirty eight year old driver was born on 23rd of May, 1972 at Sao Paulo, Brazil. The racer has been driving with Formula One for much more than a decade now.
He began his racing career from Karting like many of the other Formula One drivers. He was able to win five karting titles in Brazil before he left for Europe to join the Formula Vauxhall Lotus series in 1990. After having three years of racing with British Formula 3 Championship and Formula 3000, he finally entered in Formula one and had stayed there since then.
He signed with Jordan Team for the 1993 season and had his debut at the South African Grand Prix. The first points that he was ever able to win were in Japan as Barrichello finished at fifth place. The following year he was successful in having his first podium finish as well as ended the season at sixth place in the Drivers' Championship.
In the year 1997 he switched his team to Stewart. The start of the season was good as he was had a brilliant finish for second place on the podium in Monaco, however the season ended with his thirteenth place finish. The following year saw him at thirteenth place once again though he was able to finish two of the races at fifth place, first in Spain and later in Canada. His best finish with the same team was seen in 1999 when he was able to bag a total of twenty one points and finished the season at seventh place. This year he was able to end at third place on the podium thrice, initially in San Marino and French Grand Prix and later on in the season at the European Grand Prix.
At the start of the millennium he was taken by Ferrari as their second driver; finally the struggling driver was able to have a season ending at fourth in the Drivers' Championship with sixty two points under his belt. The purple patch continued for the racer the next year as well and he was jubilant to wrap the season at third place again with Ferrari after celebrating ten podium finishes all through the season. The year 2002 was another season spent in cheers and applauses as he finished second in the Drivers' Championship after taking three pole positions and four race wins.
The following year was a controversial one as Ferrari was accused of a team order giving preference to Michael Schumacher over Barrichello. However, the former won the championship whereas he later ended the season at fourth place and FIA introduced new rules forbidding ordering in the team.
The Spanish driver stayed with Ferrari for the next two seasons as well having them packed up at second and eighth places respectively.
By the end of 2005 he signed with Honda where he stayed for three seasons till the end of 2008, having his highest finish for seventh place during his first season with the team.
Well, last year he was able to have some luck again as he signed Mercedes Brawn team alongside Jenson Button, the Champion of last season, while Barrichello ended at a glorious third place in the Drivers’ standings.
Currently, he stands at eleventh place in the Championship and is struggling hard with his Williams car, let us see how well he is able to do with eight races yet at his disposal.
