  1. For a 5 year old child I worked with years ago, we always made sure she had special markers.... scented ones.  That made all the other kids her best friend.  :)

  2. Depending on the limitation of the child with cerebral palsy depends what you can do. Of course if they are in a wheel chair than tag is out of the question.Otherwise they are like any other person. cerebral palsy is generally a physical condition from birth and the brain works fine. I have brother who has cerebral palsy, after 40 years he is still crippled.LOL Seriously, don;t get caught up about the Cerebral Palsy, treat the kid like a kid they will love just being treated like they  normal.

  3. Say the child is just like you but looks different.  Explain to your child that everyone is equal.  and God created everyone in their own special way!!!

  4. I would rely on games that require mental ability over physical. Seek if educational games can be adapted for word recognition or see if using a joystick or keyboard would help the child as therapy. It really depends on the age of the child. Most CP kids are well within the normal range of IQ, but often treated as if they are not. If you haven't worked with an occupational therapist through your doctor or school district, you may want to see what is offered. If you are near a large city, programs are often provided at no cost through Shriners Hospitals, Children's Hospitals or specialty clinics such as Easter Seals which deal with special needs children on a daily basis. Easter Seals in our area actively seeks to integrate special needs kids with regular kids via an on-site day care and after school program. It's great for everyone involved. You may also want to contact the organization below for more local information. Good luck!

  5. Always ask for the teacher's help.

As long as she supervises and encourages the class and helps, those children will learn to accept and help their disbled peers.

This is social learning, and we learn to care from our parents, and teachers. Some adults(parents) are not aware or look down on disabled people..their children will be the same way..and naturally children are curious, and sometimes they can be cruel..even if they don't mean it. So adults with understanding on this matter can turn this environment educational for both disabled and their healthy peers..

Also, talk to your child about it..he needs to understand that he is a little bit different from other kids..so he will be ready for those questions that other kids definately will have for him..
