Tipperary (Lady Riders) Handicap Hurdle to produce fierce competition at Thurles
A close contest is on the cards in the Tipperary (Lady Riders) Handicap Hurdle, taking place at Thurles on Thursday, March 1, 2012.
There are many powerful contenders in the line-up, but Oscar Hill is most likely to display a thumping performance.
The 2-mile event will get underway at 16:55 (GMT). The going is soft to heavy and a cash prize of €5,520 will be given to the winner.
The line-up includes Oscar Hill, Beckwith Star, Owennacurra Milan, Sorted, Starling Lady, Cantrell, Happy New Year, Sacre Malta, Bestseller, Driveheron, Holy Show, Benalma, Oxalido and Simon Says.
Oscar Hill is full of spirits after a recent victory. The six-year-old clinched a classy triumph in the Bunny Maitland-Carew Handicap Chase at Musselburgh last month, in January.
It was a comprehensive victory for Gordon Elliott’s trainee, as he defeated Red Tanber by staggering 14 lengths.
After sealing his maiden win, Oscar Hill will look to continue his winning journey. The Irish challenger will be ridden by Miss N. Carberry, a veteran female jockey who has number of wins under her belt.
Another contender with fair chances of thriving is Beckwith Star. The seven-year-old is also coming into this race after a victory.
At the start of 2012, the brown gelding sealed an emphatic win in the Knockenduff Stud Beginners Chase at Tramore.
Interestingly, it was debut success for Henry De Bromhead’s trainee, who is determined not to lose his winning momentum.
The aforementioned duo will be given a hard time by Owennacurra Milan. Victories seem to have dried up for Miss Mary Louise Hallahan’s gelding, who clinched his last win in December 2010.
However, nobody can take anything away from him, as he has been performing well over the last few months.
In his latest outing on February 09, the seven-year-old secured second position in the Tote Trifecta Rollover Handicap Hurdle at the same venue.
Prediction
Although every contestant is aiming to do well, the real clash will be between Oscar Hill, Beckwith Star and Owennacurra Milan.
Among the trio, Oscar Hill has the highest chances of grabbing the top slot. However, it will not be child’s play for him, as Beckwith Star and Owennacurra Milan are h**l-bent to produce a positive result today.
