Tipping in Euros--How much should I tip at restaurants, for airport shuttles, hotels?

I'll be traveling to Paris next week and just want to ensure I'm appropriate.

  1. Generally speaking, serivce is included in prices in France.

    In cafes and restaurants this means that while one can round up the bill and leave some small change, the American custom of tipping 15-20% is not practiced.

    In hotels service is also included in the bill.

    In Taxis, the expectation is of a 10% tip.


  2. I usually give 1 or 2 euros if the waiter is nice.

    Service is always included and it represents approx 15%.  

    Nevertheless, if you are at a restaurant and have a coke, say it costs 2,40 Euros, you can leave 2,50 Euros on the table and leave if you think that the service was alright.  

    I take the cab once a month, and it is not costumary to us to tip the cab drivers.
