Tipping in the Dominican?

I'm planning a trip to the Dominican and was wondering besides money, what are some good items to use as tips? More specifically items to tip the chamber maids....???

The best suggestions I can give you are :

.-Tipping at the start (your arrival in the resort) the room staff is always better so they will provide a better service in your room.

.- Other gifts are clothing for (young) children, perfume, cosmetics, beauty accessories, scholar items for the kids, and so many things more...

.- In general they are very happy with this kind of gifts. I hope this will help you!

We brought a whole wack of samples of like perfumes, shampoos, facewashes, makeup, hairstuff, and just left a pile of it everyday for the maids!!  They LOVED it!!

If its in a restaurant, they always have the tips added to the bill. If its in a hotel, always tip them at the beginning. So you can get a better treat from people.

For the chamber maid you could give her a one-time tip between 5 to 10 dollars.
