Tipping on credit card (not cash).?

Question

I never carry cash and always tip pizza delivery guys with my credit card, so I was wondering: when I include a tip on the bill, how long does it take for the delivery guy to get it? Does he have to wait a few days to clear, or can he ask for his tip when he returns the slip to the cashier?

They get the tip the same day, when they cash out for the day or night

depending on the place. most places however have all the card tips put onto a check and they get that on normal payday

i guess it would depend on his manager.

as a manager i would go ahead and pay out so i didn't have to keep track of who needs what.

I've heard it's better to tip in cash anyway, no matter when the driver gets it. That way it doesn't have to count as earnings or something because there's no record of it.

The delivery guy gets his money when he cashes out at the end of his shift. I used to deliver pizza for a couple of different pizza shops. When you log out a delivery the computer keeps track of it. At the end of the shift, the computer will tell how much the driver owes. Whatever is left is the drivers tips. So rest assured your delivery guys or girls are getting their tips without waiting on the credit card to clear.
