Tipping the pizza guy?

I know it's not their fault if it's late, BUT: Dominos tells you when they take it to their car. It's been 40 minutes since that moment (and my pizza has been out of the oven for over 55 at this point). At what point does the tip go down? I used to serve so I know it sucks, but this is crazy.

It's usually not the delivery persons fault.Sometimes they'll have a dozen  or more different deliveries packed in their car,especially now that gas is so expensive....You're better off picking up your own pizza if you don't want to wait an hour.

I wouldn't tip, or if you just can't bring yourself to do it, then just give a buck. And make sure they know it's because it took so long. That's too long for a pizza to be out of the oven.

The restaurant should be close enough that it shouldn't take 40 minutes to get to you.  I would definitely check to see if it's hot when it arrives and send it back if it's not.  Hopefully you're paying cash and haven't already had your credit card charged in case it turns out to be totally unacceptable.

I'd send the pizza back. Point blank. Check to see if it's hot when you get it.  If it isn't tell them you want a fresh pizza.. and this is unacceptable..

In my opinion, tipping a pizza guy or girl doesn't have anything to do with how hot a pizza is when it arrives at your home.  The tipping should come from the attitude and service the delivery person provides at the time the pizza is delivered.  There have been plenty of times that a pizza has been delivered to our house not fresh and hot out of the oven, and it's not the pizza delivery persons fault.  And give me a break!!  If you want a fresh hot pizza right out of the oven, go get it yourself!  If there's a delivery charge involved, it's most likely NOT going to the pizza person.  Remember, they're usually using their own vehicles, gas and insurance to get you what you're after, and if it wasn't for them, you'd have to get your fat butt off the couch to get what you want, right?

So people, stop being so cheap!  Tip your pizza men and women when they arrive depending upon their attitude and service.  They do what they can to get you your pizza hot and fresh.  Hold the manager of the establishment accountable, not the pizza delivery person.

The tip goes down when they tell me there's a $2.50 delivery fee.  In fact, the tip disappears.

Id tip two dollars and let it be done with. But do call where you ordered it from and let them know that you dont appreciate it being that late. :)
