  1. One thing that volleyball coaches like to say is "Can't pass - can't play!"  Really concentrate on moving your feet and getting into good position on every ball.  Then try to make soft passes without much spin.  Be noisy!  Call "I" for every ball in a loud assertive voice.  This makes it look like you know what you are doing and you want to succeed.  (Just say "I", not "I've got it!".  It's better to have a short, no nonsense call.)

  2. practice makes perfect.

  3. i play volleyball and tried out r a couple of teams.. what yuou have to do is be able to serve under or over hand.. you have to be able to bump the ball over the net consectivly and usually coaches ask you to bump it up to your self.. soo good luck!!

  6. Two of the most basic and fundamental skills in volleyball are serving and bumping (passing).  Coaches look for people who can play defense as well as make a few kills.  Don't wait for a ball to come to you, stay on your toes and be ready to move.  Coaches also look for players who can get the first bump nice, high, and to your target (usually the setter).  When bumping remember to keep your arms locked, wrists down, and keep the "platform" level.  Bend your knee's and don't swing your arms.  You're pass (bump) should come from your legs.  When serving remember to use the serve taht you can rely on.  If you haven't developed an over-hand serve yet, don't do it during tryouts.  You should do what's comfortable.  And coaches won't be as impressed by an over-hand serve that doesn't go over rather than an under-hand serve that goes over every time.  If you have an over-hand serve, then just remember to get it up and over the net.  Don't go for any super serves just yet.  Good Luck.
