I need help on aiming, so badly! I have power and height basically, but I need to aim better.

Can you set in the back row?

Serving, what to do for underhand and overhand?

Which one is better too?

Sliding, how to get into the habit?

  1. You can set in the back row and jumo but your hand cant go higher than the top of the net.

Server over hand with a one hand toss is the most powerful. Get a full swing and follow through.

To get in the habit of sliding go to a gym or wood floor and practice sliding.  Don't forget knee pads and ty sliding on your belly because it is the most useful in a game.

  2. For aim - always look at your target, once you get better you can look elsewhere while you are either serving or hitting. When hitting always look beyond the net and aim for the back line - aim high and deep when you are hitting.

Indoor - back row hitting is allowed as long as you take off behind the 3 meter line or attack line. You can land beyond it after contact. Beach - there is no back court if you are playing 2's or 4's.

Serving - start with one, practice till you can aim with your serve, then move on to another serve, most advanced players have at least 2 - 3very accurate and reliable serves. In the recent world championships held in Japan, the most effective serve was actually a "float" overhand serve, not a lot of power, but a lot of movement on the ball.

Sliding - first get used to being on the floor, then get someone to teach you how to slide, it is an acquired skill, as most VBall skills are.

    Perfect practice makes perfect....

  3. -yes you can set in the back row

-serve its better overhand....just through the ball in front

of you and then hit with your palm

-just be yourself and patient until you get into a spirit of the games....because if you are a freshman in the team feel very nervous and anxious of losing points

em my tip: drink an orange juice and eat anything with sugar

    before the game or practice.

  4. you can set in the back row!

  5. Yes u can set form the back row but u can't jump

underhand serving is when u hold the ball by ur waist and swing and hit it out of ur hand with a fist

overhand is throwing it up and hitting it

    overhand is harder to return

now for sliding u just have to get comfortable with kinda throwing ur body on the floor u wanna land on ur stomache or thighs. good luck i hope i helped!

  6. basically all of what courney m. said but always face ur target when u set - overhand serving is more difficult but it is way more effective just practice it a lot and to get loosened up before a game pretend it is just a practice but stay focused, relax and put a playlist of either calming music or music that gets u pumped up and listened to it right before the game

  7. As for aiming, there's a lot of things you can do. I play in college, so I've had some experience.

With aiming while settnig, square your hips to your target. You can face them all you want, but it comes from your hips and where your hips are. And if your hips are squared to your target, it will help with balance because your body will be facing the same spot. When you're trying to aim while hitting, same thing basically. It's in your hips and shoulders. Wherever your hips and shoulders are facing is where the ball will go. Serving has a lot to do with hips, feet and your follow through with your arm. And practice-A LOT. Practice is what's going to help you the most.

I feel thast overhand serving is better and more effective to do. Especially of you have the power. If you learn how to do a hard, effective overhand serve, you can try to put a top spin on it, ask your coach for help if you don't know how.

And with sliding, it shouldn't be "sliding." You should only dive when you absolutely NEED to. Like, a last resort "I need to get this ball up anyway possible or my coach will break my knees", that's how I think of it. You shouldn't get "into the habit" of it, you should only do it when it is absolutely necessary because if you get into the habit of doing it too much, it becomes a problem and not all coaches like when their players dive too much because you're useless on the ground. What happens if you dive for a ball, get it up then it comes back to you and you're still on the ground/ You can't get the ball up and your coach gets upset. And when you dive, it has to be quick and you need to cover distance. Dont' dive on your knees, because YOU WILL hurt yourself, I've done it many times and you will get bruises that never go away, I have some. "Bellies not butts" my coach always tells us that, when you fall, fall forward, not backward. And when you dive, always-ALWAYS- use both hands, you have more control and if you use one hand it can either go off somewhere else or you can hurt yourself, once again, I've done it. And this is all coming from a libero/d.s. I play back row, so I've had a lot of training in this area.

The most you can do to improve is practice, practice, practice. ANd if needed, during your off season, take some training. Sand training helps a lot, in every area. It strengthens your legs to jump higher, run faster and react faster. And if you train in the sand, the next time you get on a hardwood court, you will definitely feel the difference in your jumping height, and how fast you run. Any sort of training will do also, but that's just one that I've done that really helped me. Practice and train. And don't be nervous when you play. There's not a whole lot that can happen to you during the game if you aren't nervous. Be excited to play. And if you get a bruise or gym floor burn, be happy-they're fun to have because it shows that you're dedicated to the ball. Have fun with it. And if you get hit with a ball, laugh it off, it happens to everyone, it's happened to me multiple times. Just have fun with it and loosen up when you play, it's way more fun when you aren't nervous. And sorry this is so long. I have a lot to say!
